Scenario 3C – Incorporate problem–based or real–world scenarios: Increasing engagement and motivation
Authentic, real–world problems are among the most effective ways to strengthen Cognitive Presence. When students are asked to analyze concrete cases, propose solutions, or design interventions, they are more motivated to engage with the content. Teachers can create Assignments based on real professional contexts, design quizzes that simulate decision–making processes, or use a database to collect and compare students’ proposed solutions. This approach ensures that learning is not only meaningful but also directly transferable to professional practice, thereby reinforcing the connection between knowledge and application.
